The Origin & Grupo Palchucán from Putumayo Colombia
William Palchucán , Sandra Tautas Pantoja
William is the flute player and director of Grupo Putumayo and his parents and grandparents have passed down the skills of authentic amazonian shamanism to him and his siblings.
Sandra, his wife, is an incredible medicine woman and enchants us throughout the night with her beautiful voice and the sweet medicine of her charango.
They share the indigenous wisdom of their culture through ancestral medicine ceremonies of the Amazon Jungle with the aim of awakening a higher consciousness.
Throughout the ceremonies the most wonderful, harmonious melodies come alive on Andean instruments as healing songs swirl across the space and enter into our consciousness reminding us of the beauty and joy of life.
Ancestral memories are tickled with the high-pitched overtone flutes of the Amazon Jungle and accompanied by the strong and protective beat of the grandfather drum

11 days retreat Putumayo Colombia 2025:
15- 26 January
**11-Day Retreat in the Colombian Jungle: January 15-26, 2025**
Healing rituals in the Colombian Amazon are a fundamental pillar in the collective life of indigenous peoples and nations from the Andes to the foothills, leading to the Amazon plains. Ancestral knowledge and practices have not only harmonized their communities but have also been a source of significant contributions to global human health care. Inhabiting the world’s largest freshwater reserve has enabled indigenous communities to be protectors and guarantors of the environmental, cultural, and spiritual balance of humanity.
In this Retreat, we will have the opportunity to share with knowledgeable people well-versed in ancient traditions:
– **Grandmother Rosa España de Palchucán**: Matriarch of the Palchucán family and guardian of ancestral medicine. Throughout her life, she has walked alongside plants, learning their secrets and healing powers. As a medicine woman and wise grandmother, she has dedicated her life to herbalism, healing with a deep knowledge of plants and the surrounding nature.
– **Her role as an ancestral physiotherapist**: extends beyond the physical; she also seeks to balance the body, mind, and spirit following the footsteps of the ancestors. As a midwife, she has witnessed the miracle of life, supporting mothers and children in that sacred moment of birth, guided by wisdom passed down through generations.
– **With her hands, she has also woven stories**: creating with threads and fibers a reminder of our traditions and knowledge. In each weave, in each plant, in every life she helps bring into the world, the teachings of the elders intertwine, keeping alive the essence of her Pasto people and their connection to the earth and the cosmos.
– **Brothers William, Roberto, Omar, Flor, Luis, and Gabriel Palchucán**: Indigenous members of the Pasto ethnic group with a rich ancestral legacy from the Amazon indigenous communities. They are knowledgeable about traditional medicines, wisdom, and customs of the original peoples of the Amazonian foothills.
– **Sandra Irene Tautas**: A woman proudly belonging to the Pastos and Quillacinga cultures. Her Quillacinga indigenous heritage has sparked a deep interest in rescuing the history of her people and keeping their essence alive through words and music. These tools allow her to share messages of introspection and connection with the inner self, emphasizing the importance of preserving life’s fundamental elements and honoring Mother Earth. Through these traditions, she seeks to strengthen her roots and pass on a legacy of respect and harmony with the natural environment.
– **Grandmother Tabaquera Ligia Rojas**: knowledgeable of the ancestral knowledge of the sacred tobacco plant; has been sharing the medicine of tobacco for 12 years through various uses like rapé, chimú ambil, and the pure form.
